Master Bedroom Re-do

Finally my bedding is done!!!

I
Before
I know it's a fashion disaster
but I love my massage chair
can I slipcover that thing????

This is the old stuff

I was always trying to fnd something to work

When we moved in 3 1/2 years ago my bedroom was painted a creamy buttery white
The lush thick carpet was the same
The beautiful white white millwork was lost...
so we painted a yellowy tan and now we can really see that millwork
But I could never figure out what to do with the bedding???

~Enter Jen~

I love that girl
I told her she could do anything she wanted except
 blue
my least favorite color
I am a warm person not a
~cool person~
She came back to me with
Brown, Gold & Blue in the fabrics
She said to trust her...it would make sense of that
Blue pearl granite right around the corner
~so glad I did~

She did all this sewing herself
We waited for JoAnn sales, used coupons and finally had everything
ready for Jen to start this big project...

Waiting for the Hubs to help move the new rug
under the bed more
that bed is HEAVY

The new rug from
~Tuesday Mornings~
$199

She did all this sewin herself

next project is the window treatments for the bathroom...
she found some Candice Olsen fabric...
be still my beating heart....
and a new ottoman that she is recovering...
we have a long way left to go with this bedroom
but I am so excited about this bedding
finally it is feeling right!

Hello Sunshine

With my Mom in tow this year
we set off on our trek south
We are Snowbirds
most years

There was the year that little Matthew Man
was born and I couldn't go
no matter how cold it got that winter...
I was planted near my first Grandson
He just turned 2 last week

But this year off we went..
We made it through the Siskiyous
just in time
Mt Shasta is beautiful but that pass can be brutal

I got a text from our friends heading the opposite way
They go home for the holidays
They were stuck at the top of the pass for 3 hours
My first thought was how do you go to the bathroom?
She said her hubby just got out and went....
she was next.... OMG
How do you prepare for that?

We made it to the other side with just a hint of snow coming down
got to spend the evening with my Sister in Redding
Then off at 7:00 a.m. to make it home to the desert by 8:00pm
That Hubs is a driving machine

It is 8 degrees at home right now
I have mixed emotions about being gone
when my house is cold and lonely

Take care Seattle
Drive safe kids....

We really will be thinking of you

Surprise Wind Storm

This is the Port of Tacoma
I've been off for a few days and here's why
We didn't have a computer, TV, telephones or water
We have a generator which didn't come on
The power went off at 8pm just after
Dancing with the Stars
started Monday
The next morning the Hubs went out to get the generator running
so we had the fridge  and the outlets to keep the cell phones charged
gas fireplaces to heat the place but then
what do we do with no computers?
We discovered that TV and computers
are our life......hummmmmm
is this good?
The neighbors were taking their kids to school and bringing us  back goodies
Mary brought  Starbucks
Denise brought  McDonald's sausage egg McMuffins
it was a great morning for us
just knowing your neighbors are the very best
~we are all  in this together~
We are on a community well and realize we have to get a generator for that
because being without water is the worst part
The Hubs left the chainsaw at the farm this year
~not good~
we all had a tree or limbs down
I got some paperwork done
cleaned out the china cabinet
The Hubs did some yard work
and read a book
~but~
we felt
~lost~
Better work on that
Without TV we didn't  even know how bad it was
~out there~

Leaving Fall behind & A Giveaway

I am going to miss Autumn

I have come across some really beautiful scenes from fall
this year through the blogs I follow
One of my favorites is Delores's

Her homes are stunning
 one is on a vineyard
and she is such a good photographer
she travels to Europe
and takes us along the way
you have to check out her blog for
~breathtaking beauty~
and I'm not just saying this because she is having a
fabulous
please don't enter because I seriously want to win
just kidding....not!

Check out these beautiful fall pictures

Here is my attempt at creating fall in our home

We leave in less than 2 short weeks for the desert
It seems like I just got my fall decorating done
my favorite new thing is the banner
Jen made...
I just LOVE it
It says
Welcome Fall & Friends

Look what's hiding on my mantle
courtesy of
My Sweet Savannah

At the entry way
there are little lights in the wire gourd
looks so pretty at night
learning to take pictures with no flash
As you can see I
don't have much for decorating
it seems we have always been
 gone during the fall
Went  to Europe for two years in a row
during the fall to be with my daughter...
look how tiny Mattie was then
The Germans love the fall &
~Oktoberfest~

My sister & I had a blast

Can you guess where this is?

Wonder where Fechy is?
Switzerland is also beautiful in the fall ..
Ok I'm getting off track here.....I must do a post on that place!

Before that we loved going to
New England
 in the fall

traveling back there in our motorhome
ours is behind the Sister-n-laws pretty one
 I love this picture

So we didn't get to enjoy the
~Northwest Fall~
Now granted it's not as spectacular as Germany or Vermont
But it can be great if all the stars align....
usually it is windy, rainy and the leaves are just
brown & mushy
But this year we lucked out
a few days ago  was a record breaking 77 degrees
Wow we were all
~blown away~
(excuse the pun)

This is a little leaf maple at our gate
I've never seen it so pretty before

A pretty red leaf maple at the neighbors
my little guy doesn't have a leaf left
Oh you should see those Rody's behind the red leaf maple in the spring...spectacular
Mary's wisteria so pretty yesterday
My little weeping cherry is pretty this time of the year
But our glorious sky is what everybody was
talking about
The good weather got me outside to take some pictures
See Spanky waiting by the door wanting to go out too....
The back door my sister built
This is our *back door* where 99.9% of our guests enter...
I have plans (see the wall on the right)
to fix our entry so everyone will know where the front door is..
someday....

The front door is under the arch in the middle of the house
but everyone parks at the top of the driveway on the right
and enters here...
~the back door~

My ivy even turns slightly red
Well it's all coming down shortly and we will button up the place
for winter

Good night Fall
