We have had a little bit of a problem with
~date night~
They have closed down
~Borders~
it was truly our special
~place~
I would read magazines for hours
the Hubs would grab a book..
and we would both have a
~latte~
We could go any night of the week,
he always bought a book..
I rarely bought a magazine..
I always told him I was a
~cheap date~
he loved that about me...
Well what are we suppose to do now?
We don't have another bookstore in our area
so what else do we enjoy...
plants!!!
We have been checking out the nurserys
in our area
for a place to call our own..
a great one is in a little town called
~Sumner~
this is where the Hubs grew up...
~The Windmill Gardens~
That's our cute little red car with the top down
well actually it has no top to put down, but
~remember we are on a date~
I get to go where I want and he gets to
get me there how he wants..
They have all sorts of interesting things there
Shopping within shopping
lots of good inspiration
A great little restaurant
Oh my this was good
On a date he will let me stop anytime I want
to take pictures of interesting stuff
Mt Rainier was out in its
full glory
he doesn't even holler to
~hurry up~
But this car has no room to bring home plants...
and they were a bit pricey...
again I am a
~cheap date~
Well yesterday
I took him out on a date
to the nursery I discovered recently
not far from our home
One of my favorite gift stores
Country Wishes
with great prices
and always a big sale room
oh this place is heaven
They state that they were
~green, before green was in~
everything organic there
We were big Miracle grow users before...
now we know that our plants will be
much better off and will last much longer
if we use organic
Remember Chris
..The gal who came out to help
us plant the fountain area
She set us straight...
we are just so in awe of her
~creativity and knowledge~
yesterday while on our
~date~
we got some trees
from Chris
it was pouring rain so hard they spent their
first night in the garage
these are to go on the outside of the stone
at the entry
This winter the flax didn't make it
so we thought a short tree
on either side would
look nice
a Japanese dwarf maple
~acer palmatum kamagata~
is what we liked,
Chris agreed it would do fine there..
and not block the view
It will be bright orange in the fall
and not get any bigger than 4 feet tall
~Isn't this beautiful~
I can't wait for fall
So it seems
we have now found
~our new spot~
and
I'm not the
~cheap date I used to be~
I hope Tracy & Chris
don't get sick of us
We wouldn't go anywhere else
for plants, garden advice or
~date night~
Oh and they love our dogs..
~Bonus~
What a gorgeous nursery and such a cute little car! How sad that all the book stores are closing, it's like the end of an era:( My husband and I had a Claim Jumpers that we loved to go to for happy hour, it was right up the street so having a couple of beers was no big deal. They closed it down and we are SO sad, it used to get packed in there but I guess their lease was up for renewal and they didn't like the new terms. We'll have to find a new date spot too I guess!
ReplyDeleteWow, your house is amazing!
I love your story of date night - too sweet! I'm a cheap date too, but I just know that I could change at a nursery like this!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so cute - I'm glad you guys found a new spot for your date night!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the post Kathy. Yeah...I can understand how a cheap date can get off track while visiting a nursery. Especially one as beautiful as The Windmill Gardens! And that little red car is FABULOUS!
ReplyDeleteLove your dates Kathy! I love that nursery close to home...I think I could spend hours in there, and you are lucky to live close to such beautiful plants and treasures!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great car! And what great places for a date. Your home is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I could write you a novel about this post! The borders (sorry), the nursery and the dessert, the nursery you love, the car, the plaants, the view, the red maple!!
ReplyDeleteVery fabulous post friend!!!

Awww.. this is so sweet! So well written and so real. I felt a bit emotional even! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's important to see how people love each other and very importantly, enjoys each others company.
By the way, that car is fun too! :-) When we got married (almost 8 years ago), my husband had a porsche and it was so fun, but then the kids came along and the porsche was gone. I think we'll have a car just for 2 once the kids are all grown up. It's cozy, isn't it? :-)
Have a great week!
