The house behind us was
~ for sale~
I could not believe
the mess that place was in...
The new owners are cleaning it up
~yeah~
I asked what they were going to do with the
~old couch~
She said it's going to the dump
~take what you want~
OH MY GOSH
I jumped in the car
their clean-up crew even packed it for me
Three of these little chairs
and....
this settee....
I think this is going to be so
~cool~
Now comes the hard part....
so many choices
chenille possibly...
tufted velvet perhaps
via the zhush
or maybe linen with a ruffle
I am in LOVE with this..
or something a bit more formal
Restoration Hardware's version of linen
Look at Ballard Design's settee
I just saw this today on Miss Mustard Seeds Blog
or something with a pattern
should I go white...
I wish I was able to get this larger and not so blurry
I found this one on ebay
for $1950
Oh boy I need
~help~
anybody got any good ideas
they could share...
What would you do
with this diamond in the ruff?
I am tickled
~pink~
well maybe not this pink!
Partying with
so much going on over there!
&
OMGosh...this is amazing. I would probably go white with some of those cool french pillows...
ReplyDeleteWhatever you decide to do, it is going to be sooo pretty.:)
Oh wow!!!! Thank goodness you were able to rescue those amazing pieces! I'm sure whatever you decide on it will be fabulous and I can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteYou lucky lady! I really liked the white one and the chocolate brown one. Can't wait to see the end result. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI would use french vintage feedsack for the cushions and some light linen for back -- would do a few different fabrics but all very tasteful and coordinating.... just sayin'
ReplyDeletelink here to vintage textiles.. http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-feedsack-GRAIN-SACK-feed-bag-HEMP-french-SZJ-/120344335364?_trksid=p3284.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D21%26pmod%3D110477806117%26ps%3D54
I guess it would depend on where you are going to use it. I am not fond of the taupe linen look - I think it will be dated pretty fast. The chenille, velvet or a damask would be pretty, in a neutral or even a pretty colour if this is going into a bedroom or a more informal spot.
ReplyDeleteI love it! You did well!
Oh I love it. I think it would be gorgeous in any of the fabrics. Beautiful piece and the chairs are wonderful also. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThat is a great score. I love the lines of that settee. It will be gorgeous no matter what you decide. Keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteLucky you, I liked the chocolate brown one myself.
ReplyDeleteOh, my what a beauty. So many possibilities.
ReplyDeleteSince the sofa cost nothing, go a little wild - maybe an oversized zebra print - or whatever makes your heart sing.
ReplyDeleteI like all your choices , but I'm thinking you want to go with the bright pink one.
HIGH FIVE!!!!! Total score there(sorry there are new owners, but you know what I mean)!!! Geesh, I think if it were mine, I would do a linen, but then again, I need something for easy cleanup with the dogs and kids, lol. The possiblities are endless! I will wager you end up with a print..a possbile zebra print? Eh, you will make it gorgeous whatever you go with!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you do with it...lots of lovely options, how exciting! XOXO ~Liz
ReplyDeleteGreat bones, I would do linen with a down wrapped seat cushion...this is going to be fun to see what you do.
ReplyDeleteYou are one lucky lady! I can't wait to see what you decide to do with it. Too hard to choose a fabric- depends where it's going- but how exciting :)
ReplyDeleteYour are so lucky! What a wonderful piece and with so many options!!! I love the creamy white although maybe not in my house but the chocolate brown would suit my taste too!!! Can't wait to see what you do.
ReplyDeleteWow & WOW Kathy!
ReplyDeleteFrom trash to treasure!!
Love the map idea, very unique~
I agree with Pondside, depends where you put it as to how you'll recover it.
ReplyDeleteBesides, just where ARE you going to put it??? Maybe up stairs in the apartment, in that little "nook" where the striped lounger is?? If it does go up stairs I would go the white with maybe some of the greenish piping that matches the green you have up there. Then you can redo the other couches also! I take it the cushions where missing?? Any way, you scored!!
OR>>>> something in the purple lavender color!!! Then I know just where it would fit!!
ReplyDeleteLove ya sis
What a great find! I vote linen with white washed wood.
ReplyDeleteLucky you -- and lucky me. I am getting one very similar which belonged to my late Aunt Mary, and I will be watching to see what you do with yours. Mine may bet a temporary fix of a slipcover till next year when we build a sunroom.
ReplyDeleteDon't keep me in suspense!
Scribbler
You are so lucky! I can't believe they were going to throw it out.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the pink one... love the white and neutral colours. Can't wait to see what you do.
Lucky, lucky you...it is so wonderful that anything you decide will be sensational. Looking forward to seeing how it will turn out.
ReplyDeleteI'm so envious of your gorgeous "new" sofa. I think however you decide to cover it, it will look fantastic. I'm off to go and stalk my neighbours in case they discard a sofa like this! I'm also your newest follower. x Sharon (South Africa)
ReplyDeleteOooh, what a great piece, Kathy! The chairs aren't bad either! So many choices ~ I love the linen with the ruffles, but that may not be realistic. I think the linen would look great though, maybe a la Ballard Designs settee.
ReplyDeletevisiting from WUW : )
I have been TRING to comment!! I haven't been able to! I finall figured I'd try using "annoymous" and it is working!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous haul!! Free stuff is so much more satisfying isn't it???
I like the first one, and the brown ruffeled one.
Are you going to re-do the couch yourself? You are amazing!!!
xxDaniella aka annoymous
I've been having trouble commenting too!
ReplyDeleteSo, I'll try again!
Good Luck with your rescued sofa!
I found one similar at an estate sale and after I struggled to get it in the van and then the house, my old dog peed on it! I got rid of the cushion and planned on making my own but then when I tried to move it downstairs, it got stuck in the stairwell! I broke off a leg and then struggled to get it back outside and to the curb. I wish you better luck! LOL!
(I'd paint the wood white and cover it in "Union Jack Flag fabric!")
Hey, Thanks for visiting my blog!
:) - Cindi
It's WONDERFUL! When you get through with this sofa, it's going to look like a million dollars! I would definitely go white or natural, and paint the word parts, i love those big ruffles too, so that might be a neat thing to add...
ReplyDeleteCindy
Lucky, Lucky you!!! What a fabulous diamind in the rough... This is going to be fun to watch...
ReplyDeleteI love this sofa so much....you are so lucky to be its new owner. I can't wait to see what you do with it. Thanks for linking up to my first every party!
